A company built
on a simple principle
Weir Construction Group began over twenty-five years ago with a simple principle: do excellent work, charge fair prices, and treat every client’s home as if it were our own. John founded the company after years working for larger firms where he saw too many shortcuts, too many excuses, and too many homeowners left disappointed by builders who over-promised and under-delivered.
Based on Salisbury Avenue in Chesterfield, we serve homeowners, architects and businesses across Derbyshire, the Peak District and into South Sheffield. Our team of directly employed tradespeople, bricklayers, joiners, plasterers, electricians and plumbers, work together on every project, which is why our detailing is consistent from one build to the next.
Our specialisms are architect-designed homes, luxury new builds, Passive House and low-energy construction, barn conversions and full project management. We also carry out extensions, structural alterations, refurbishments and commercial projects including shop fit-outs and pub refurbishments. Whatever the contract value, John personally manages the project.

Our purpose is straightforward: hand over buildings that still perform in twenty years. That means foundations, steelwork, roofs, airtightness and drainage designed and installed to the specification, checked by building control at every stage, and never quietly downgraded to protect a margin.
Price it honestly at the start
Every quote is itemised against a written scope so you can see what is included and compare properly. Client-requested changes are priced and confirmed in writing before work proceeds, which is why our final invoices match the figure agreed at the outset.
Answer the phone
You deal with John from first enquiry to handover. Questions get an answer the same working day, decisions are made without a chain of hand-offs, and nobody has to explain the project twice.
No shortcuts on structure
Foundations, steelwork, roofing and load-bearing elements are done once, done right. Every structural element is independently inspected by building control before we proceed.
Fixed prices, no surprises
Quotes are detailed, itemised and fixed. You will never receive an invoice higher than the agreed quote without prior written agreement.
